Garland Mountain

Ride Time: Meet at Garland Mountain Horse and Hiking Trails Parking Lot at 11:00 to ride out at 11:30

Location: 1411 Garland Mountain Way, Waleska, GA 30183

This is the address of the Trailhead/Parking Lot. Good, paved roads lead to the parking area and it is also well signed from Hwy 140 (Reinhardt College Parkway). Parking is a large, gravel lot with easy, pull through parking.

Trail Description: Beautiful, well-maintained, and well-marked trails through shady, deep woods. The terrain is rolling with some moderate climbs and a few small creek crossings. There are a couple of fun, horse obstacle playgrounds that we can visit along the way if the group is interested, and time allows. Some areas are moderately rocky so horses with sensitive feet may want to wear shoes or boots.

We plan to ride approximately 2.5 – 3 hours with a stop midway for lunch/snacks. This will be a mostly walking paced ride. Those wishing to go further or faster may ride separately.

Amenities: There are restrooms at the parking lot. There is no drinking water available for horses except at the creek crossings and these are dependent on rainfall. Riders should bring their own drinking water.

There is a mounting block available at the trailhead and there will be benches or picnic tables for use at the rest break.
